What you can quote

Your coach comes back to the plan.

  • Goal follow-through

Odyssey is an AI life coach built for follow-through. Your coach reaches out on a rhythm you set, with check-ins, plan cues, and a weekly review of a plan you built together.

  • An AI life coach for iPhone

Odyssey is an AI life coach for iPhone. You choose one of five coaches, and the work is a conversation with a plan behind it. Android is not available yet.

  • Plan-first coaching

Odyssey is plan-first. You name a goal, build the milestones with your coach, and the follow-up refers back to that plan, including a belief written in your own words.

Fair is fair

Where Liven, Purpose, or Unlimits is the better choice.

Purpose. Purpose is the better fit if you want one mentor, voice conversations today, and an app that also runs on Android and the web. The public listing leads with reflection, decisions, and guided Quests, and it names Mark Manson as a co-founder.

Liven. Liven is the better fit if what you want is a short daily practice for stress, focus, and how you respond under pressure, in many languages, on iPhone, Apple Watch, or Android, with a journal and role-play in the same app. Their help center describes optional paid sessions with a person, which Odyssey does not offer.

Unlimits. Unlimits is the closest of the three on follow-up. Their site says the coach brings one step a day, and that Pro adds WhatsApp check-ins and voice conversations. Android is available, and a first dream stays free after their trial. Recorded sessions from Paul McKenna are included. If you need any of those, Unlimits is the honest pick.

Which one

How to pick.

Pick Odyssey if the goal is already clear and the missing piece is someone coming back to the plan, on iPhone, in text, with a coach you chose. ChatGPT is a different comparison, and it is written separately.

Questions

What is a good Liven alternative?

It depends on what you use Liven for. If it is a short daily practice for stress and focus, with a journal and breathing, Liven already does that well. If what you want is a goal followed up, Odyssey and Unlimits are built for that: Odyssey checks in on a rhythm you set and reviews your plan with you every week, and Unlimits sends one step a day.

How is Odyssey different from Purpose?

Purpose is one AI mentor, co-founded by Mark Manson, built around reflection, patterns, and decisions, with voice mode and Quests. Odyssey gives you five coaches to choose from and is built around a plan: you set a goal, build the milestones with your coach, and the follow-up comes back to that plan. Purpose runs on iPhone, Android, and the web. Odyssey is iPhone only and text only today.

How is Odyssey different from Unlimits?

They are the closest pair here. Both follow up rather than wait. Unlimits turns a dream into one small step a day, adds a Future Self chat and Paul McKenna sessions, and offers WhatsApp check-ins and voice on Pro. Odyssey lets you choose between five coaches with different styles, runs sessions on GROW, OSCAR, and Appreciative Inquiry, and reviews the whole plan with you every week.

How much do Odyssey, Purpose, Liven, and Unlimits cost?

Which of these apps work on Android?

Purpose, Liven, and Unlimits all have Android apps on Google Play. Odyssey is iPhone only today; Android is planned, and the waitlist is on this site.

Can I talk to the coach out loud?

In Purpose, yes, with voice mode. In Unlimits, voice conversations come with Pro. Odyssey is text today; voice is not included on either plan.

Are any of these apps therapy?
