What is Odyssey?
An AI life coach. You get a plan built with someone who knows how to build one, a coach who remembers what you said last week, and a check-in that arrives whether or not you open the app.
How is this different from ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is a chatbot. Ask it well and it does a convincing impression of a coach, then a convincing impression of whatever you ask for next. Odyssey is an application built for one job. The coaching methods are in the product rather than in your prompt. Your goals, your milestones and the beliefs you have reworked are records your coach keeps, not paragraphs up the scrollback. And the conversation starts without you, on a rhythm you set, which no prompt can do.
Is this therapy?
No. Therapy is clinical care, delivered by licensed professionals and regulated as such. Odyssey is coaching. It cannot diagnose, treat, or manage any mental-health condition, and it is not a substitute for a licensed professional. If something in your life needs clinical help, talk to someone qualified to give it.
It is AI. How can AI coach me?
The same way a coach does, using the same methods. Your coach works the goal with you, challenges the reasoning that is keeping it still, and drafts the obstacles before you reach them. What they add is that they hold everything you have already said, so you never re-explain it, and they are there at eleven at night.
What are the coaches actually trained on?
The methods working coaches use. GROW and OSCAR to give a session a shape, and Appreciative Inquiry for the weeks when the honest place to start is what is already working. They also do belief work: when the thing holding a goal still is something you said, your coach names it, questions it, and helps you put the replacement in your own words.
Do I have to be in a bad place for this to be worth it?
No. Nothing has to be wrong for this to be worth having. Most people here have a life that works and a short list of things they have never got round to starting.
Why would this work when the last app did not?
Most of those apps were trackers. A tracker records what you did and has no opinion about it. A coach has an opinion, works the plan with you, and brings it up again when you would rather move on.
Why can't I just do this myself?
You can. Almost nobody does. People hire trainers who are perfectly capable of writing their own program. What changes is that someone else is now expecting something.
Can I switch coaches?
Yes, as often as you want, on both plans. Your goals and your whole history come with you. On Max you can also put the same goal in front of a second coach without leaving the first.
What happens to what I tell my coach?
It stays in your account and is never shown to another user. To write a reply, your messages go to Anthropic, the company behind the model the coaches run on. Delete your account in Settings and everything in it goes with it. The privacy policy has the full detail.
Can I talk to my coach out loud?
Not yet. Voice is coming soon and is included in neither plan today. Odyssey is text.
Is there an Android app?
Not yet. Odyssey is on iPhone today and Android is planned. Join the waitlist on this site and we will email you when it ships.
What does it cost?
Two plans, Pro and Max, each billed monthly or yearly. The pricing page carries both figures and every place the two differ. A year of Pro costs less than one hour with a human coach. The App Store shows the price in your own currency.
How do I get in touch?
Email john@phantom-labs.com and a person reads it. The support page also carries the Android waitlist.
How do I cancel?
In your iPhone Settings, under your name, then Subscriptions. Billing runs through your Apple ID, so that is the only place it can be done. Canceling stops the next payment and leaves your access until the end of the period you already paid for.
How old do I have to be?
Odyssey is for adults, 18 and over.
